A study of 96 patients with an original diagnosis of mycosis fungoides revealed that 84 did not have circulating Sézary cells. Of the 12 patients with Sézary cells, only 3 had more than 15%. The 12 patients had benign and malignant skin diseases. The Sézary cell does not seem to have any importance in the pathogenesis of mycosis fungoides.
