Transection of the esophagus with use of the EEA stapler in uncontrollable hemorrhage fro esophageal varices, combined with ligation of the splenic artery and the coronary vein, is presented. This technique was used in three patients with severe hemorrhaging from esophageal varices. Bleeding was controlled in all patients.
