Encysted fourth ventricle.

A case of an encysted fourth ventricle subsequent to meningitis is described. This clinical entity may cause a progressive neurological deficit secondary to mass effect and recurrent central nervous system infections. Direct drainage, as opposed to lateral ventricular shunting alone, is indicated.
