Abstract

Expression of tumoral antigens and their masking by sialic acids were studied. Tumour with greater content in sialic acid [P1798(sc)] can surpass the histocompatibility barrier. Furthermore, removal of sialic acid residues from membrane by neuramidase treatment results in a retarded or inhibited tumoral growth. These results suggest an antigenic masking by sialic acids. On the other hand, in the anti-P1798(sc) humoral response are involved two antigens, at least, also expressed by syngeneic hepatocytes and thymocytes, as demonstrated by cytotoxicity assays.

对肿瘤抗原的表达及其被唾液酸掩盖的情况进行了研究。唾液酸含量较高的肿瘤[P1798(sc)]能够跨越组织相容性屏障。此外,用神经氨酸酶处理去除膜上的唾液酸残基会导致肿瘤生长迟缓或受到抑制。这些结果表明唾液酸存在抗原掩盖作用。另一方面,细胞毒性试验表明,在抗P1798(sc)体液反应中至少涉及两种也由同基因肝细胞和胸腺细胞表达的抗原。
