The content of DNA was assayed in Escherichia coli K-12 strains which underwent mutations in the genes pol A, uvr A, rec B during their cultivation in the Difco broth. The mutant in the gene rec B did not differ from the wild strain in the dynamics of DNA content. The mutants in the genes pol A and uvr A contained DNA three times as high as the wild strain cells at the beginning of the lag phase. Apparently, the genes pol A and uvr A are involved in the regulation of DNA content in the cells of E. coli.
对在Difco肉汤中培养时在pol A、uvr A、rec B基因发生突变的大肠杆菌K - 12菌株的DNA含量进行了测定。rec B基因突变体在DNA含量动态方面与野生菌株没有差异。pol A和uvr A基因突变体在延迟期开始时所含DNA是野生菌株细胞的三倍。显然,pol A和uvr A基因参与了大肠杆菌细胞中DNA含量的调节。
