Peptic ulceration in renal transplant patients at Johannesburg Hospital is reviewed. The incidence of ulceration was 4,4%, and a high proportion of patients experienced complications (bleeding or perforation), with a mortality of 18,8%. From our experience, active pre- and post-transplant surgery is advocated in transplant patients, who are at risk from both the development of peptic ulceration and its sequelae.
