44 inferior meatal antrostomies in 32 patients with chronic maxillary sinusitis were followed at two month intervals over a period of two years. Closure of the antrostomy occurred in 29.4% of the cases reported. Allergy was unimportant for the operative result, nor was an increased frequency of infections demonstrated following surgery. Subsequently, improvement of sinusitis was noticable, even after closure of the fenestration. In contrast to other reports in the literature, mucociliary drainage from the maxillary sinus to the nose occurs through the operatively placed fenestra.
对32例慢性上颌窦炎患者实施的44例下鼻道鼻窦造口术，在两年时间里每隔两个月进行一次随访。报告的病例中，29.4%出现了鼻窦造口闭合。过敏对手术结果影响不大，术后也未显示感染频率增加。随后，即使在开窗闭合后，鼻窦炎也有明显改善。与文献中的其他报告不同，上颌窦至鼻腔的黏液纤毛引流是通过手术形成的开窗进行的。
