Visual prognosis in aphakic bullous keratopathy treated by penetrating keratoplasty: a retrospective study of 73 cases.

Seventy-three eyes with limbus to limbus bullous keratopathy following cataract extraction were followed 24 months to determine the long-term visual prognosis following penetrating keratoplasty. All but one eye required anterior vitrectomy. A manual vitrectomy technique was utilized in all cases. Results obtained were equal to or better than other contemporary literature reports utilizing mechanical vitrectomy techniques.
