A rare case of an intraperitoneal rupture of a normal bladder during alcoholic intoxication without available history of any abdominal trauma is described. The patient presented with severe abdominal and bilateral back pain associated with progressive abdominal distention leading to an initial erroneous diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. Urology consultation was sought for the patient's apparently oliguric status. An emergency cystogram was performed to confirm the possibility of bladder rupture in the above clinical setting. Following operative repair of the bladder the patient has recovered uneventfully.
