In view of our last 100 patients operated on for hyperparathyroidism we found the following: 1. The operation is safe, with no mortality and a 2 per cent morbidity from transient hypoparathyroidism. 2. The operation is effective (99 per cent in our series) with removal of only clinically enlarged glands. 3. Most patients have symptomatic hypercalcemia (73 per cent in our series) and are improved with parathyroidectomy.
