From January 1969 to December 1979 a total number of 26,255 births took place at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the General Hospital Steyr. During this period the perinatal mortality decreased from 35.7% to 11.2% and the standard perinatal mortality (according to the WHO criteria) from 23.8% to 4.8%. The premature birth rate decreased from 7.4% to 4.4%. The chance of survival for low-birthweight newborns was increased impressively. The factors which account for the improvement of these obstetrical results are analyzed.
1969年1月至1979年12月期间，施泰尔总医院妇产科共发生26255例分娩。在此期间，围产期死亡率从35.7%降至11.2%，标准围产期死亡率（根据世界卫生组织标准）从23.8%降至4.8%。早产率从7.4%降至4.4%。低体重新生儿的存活几率显著提高。对这些产科结果改善的因素进行了分析。
