Intrahepatic patterns of the biliary ducts in the chick liver (Gallus gallus domesticus).

In 40 chick livers intrahepatic ductal patterns have been studied after preparing the corrosion cast of the hepatic duct. Frequently hepatoenteric duct was formed by the union of left and right hepatic ducts (92.5%) and rarely by union of left dorsal, left ventral and right hepatic ducts (7.5%). The left lobe of the liver was drained by left dorsal, left ventral and left intermediate hepatic ducts and the right lobe by the right dorsal and right ventral hepatic ducts. The various patterns of their formation and their sites of drainage into the ductal system have been described in detail.
