The clinical and postmortem pathologic and histopathologic findings in a 79-year-old female patient with changes in the posterior segment which could not be identified with certainty are described. There were not other clinical or immunological indications of sarcoidosis. Histological examination of the unusual changes in the eye, which gave no indication for enucleation, became possible because of the sudden death of the patient due to a pacemaker complication.
