Different types of stomach sontractions (enhancement of muscle tone, rhythmic and digestive activities, periodic activity) have their own specific reflections in the electrogastrogram (EGG). No contractile activity of the stomach easily differentiated by the EGG from the gastric secretion, interferes with the electrophysiological analysis of the latter which is particularly important in study of the initial period of gastric glands functioning.
