The skin disorders of 5000 Black patients are surveyed. Th eczemas were by far the commonest group of disorders seen in this series (29%), as they are in Whites, Coloureds and Indians. Acne was second commonest (11%), with a frequency similar to that found in other races. Skin damage resulting from the use of bleaching creams was responsible for 6% of all skin disorders. There was a decrease in coccal infections, syphilis and pellagra compared with previous surveys.
