Since Donné reported on the existence of transmucosal electrical potential difference in 1834, many investigations have been made on this subject. Recently, the fact that the potential difference reflects mucosal integrity has been utilized to examine the extent of mucosal pathology of various parts of the alimentary tract. Few reports, however, have so far been made on the esophageal mucosal potential difference. The author experimentally studied on the esophageal mucosal potential difference to seek its significance in making the diagnosis of esophagitis. A total of 25 mongrel dogs were used and divided into two groups, control and esophagitis group. Endoscopic examination, recording of potential difference and autopsy were made after preparation of esophagitis. The results obtained were as follows: 1) Esophagoscopy of the esophagitis group revealed various types of esophagitis in all the dogs. 2) Gastric mucosal potential difference varied according to the degree of mucosal damage. 3) In esophagitis group, esophageal mucosal potential difference showed the higher values than those of the control group. 4) At the area of localized esophagitis, the value of esophageal mucosal potential difference was higher than that of the intact mucosa. It is concluded that the measurement of potential difference of the esophageal mucosa is useful for detecting the extent of esophageal mucosal damage.
自1834年唐内报告了经黏膜存在电位差以来,针对这一主题已开展了许多研究。近来,电位差反映黏膜完整性这一事实已被用于检查消化道各部位黏膜病变的程度。然而,关于食管黏膜电位差的报告迄今尚少。作者通过实验研究食管黏膜电位差,以探寻其在食管炎诊断中的意义。总共使用了25只杂种犬,并将其分为两组,即对照组和食管炎组。制备食管炎模型后,进行了内镜检查、电位差记录及尸检。所获结果如下:1)食管炎组的食管镜检查显示所有犬均存在不同类型的食管炎。2)胃黏膜电位差随黏膜损伤程度而变化。3)在食管炎组中,食管黏膜电位差显示出高于对照组的值。4)在局限性食管炎区域,食管黏膜电位差值高于完整黏膜处。得出的结论是,测量食管黏膜电位差有助于检测食管黏膜损伤的程度。
