In an experimental study on cats, cordaron administered in a dose of 5 mg/kg significantly increased ventricular fibrillation threshold. Used in a concentration of 1.5 x 10(-6) g/ml, the drug prevented ventricular fibrillation in an isolated heart which had been caused by reduced content of potassium ions and increased content of calcium ions in the perfusate. This action may be due to its influence on myocardial ion transport.
