Eleven twin pregnancies in which one of the two foetuses had died more than 24 hours before birth were evaluated for this report. Intra-uterine death of one foetus did not necessarily entail death of the other. The vitality of a newborn and the neonatal period were not affected by death of one of the twins. Improvement of foetal maturation and induction of labour in case of risk due to placental insufficiency were found to be proper approaches to reducing perinatal mortality and postnatal morbidity of the surviving foetus of twin pregnancy.
