[Surgical treatment of iatrogenic lesions of the trachea in a case study].

The author's present a case of patient with a circular tracheal stenosis caused by the cuff being for too long period of time (27 days). The stenosis caused progressive respiratory insufficiency threatening the patient's life, despite tracheotomy. An operation was performed whereby the narrowed section of the tracheal was resected and an (end to end) anastomosis was preformed. In the author's opinion, increased use of mechanical respirators will increase the number of such patients and the need for this type of operation.
