Dipetalonema (Acanthocheilonema) procyonis Price 1955 is redescribed from specimens recovered from the subcutaneous tissues of raccoons (Procyon lotor) in Louisiana. The microfilaria, which is found in the skin of the host, is described for the first time. Dipetalonema (A.) procyonis can be distinguished from other members of the subgenus Acanthocheilonema based on the presence of four conical petals on the posterior extremity of both sexes; the females of all other previously described species possess three caudal appendages.
