This paper discusses the treatment of isolated fracture-avulsions of the tibial insertions of the cruciate ligaments of the knee. The indications for conservative treatment or open reduction and osteosynthesis, are based on a classification by Meyer and McKeever which takes into account the displacement of the avulsed fragment. This is the crucial factor in the choice of treatment.
