Hemi-tongue flaps.

We describe a design for tongue flaps that utilizes the full thickness of the hemi-mobile tongue that provides mucosal lining, muscle bulk, and a long, supple, nonrestricting pedicle. The method was used in six children who had large palatal defects and allowed complete and permanent closure without any of the complications previously associated with lingual flaps.
