This report describes a simplified anatomic approach to computerized tomography of the pelvis. This approach is based on the recognition of certain key features or landmarks in ten characteristic sections. These sections can be obtained routinely by using the L5 vertebral body as an initial reference point and then scanning sequentially at two centimeter intervals. These ten sections offer a relatively complete overview of the pelvis in most patients, and can serve, therefore, as a protocol for rapid screening.
