Cranial computerised tomography allows to calculate, from the volume elements of all layers, the volume of the brain and of the outer and inner spaces occupied by the cerebrospinal fluid. The ratio between the volume of the brain and of the spaces occupied by the CSF is represented by an index figure known as brain--liquor space index. Success of therapy is objectivated by a change of the index as determined by control examinations.
