A case of giant hypertrophic gastritis observed at a male patient of age 38 is reported. The process clinically and radiographically simulated a tumour of the stomach, which has been totally removed. Histologically inflammatory changes of the gastric wall-pangastritis-were found with micro-abscesses in the submucosa. Problems of pathogenesis, diagnostics, differential diagnostics and pathology of the disease are dealt with. Possible ways of the therapy are also discussed.
