Inverted, retracted or indrawn nipples are established in very early infancy, perhaps even prenatally, and are to be regarded as a developmental mammary malformation which is not corrigible by any manipulation. This fact should be recognized by parents and by antenatal supervisors who are consulted or called upon to advise about breast-feeding.

内陷、回缩或凹陷乳头在婴儿早期甚至可能在产前就已形成，应被视为一种发育性乳腺畸形，任何手法都无法矫正。父母以及在咨询或被要求就母乳喂养提供建议时的产前监护人员都应认识到这一事实。
