Acute fatal toxoplasmosis in squirrels.

Two dead gray squirrels submitted to the Northeastern Research Center for Wildlife Diseases ahd nonsuppurative encephalitis and interstitial pneumonitis, with Toxoplasma gondii cysts and tachyzoites in many tissues. These infections have rarely been reported from gray squirrels but could mimic clinical rabies.
