Although double vision is known to occur in adults following squint operations it should not be a contra-indication for surgery. The condition is more likely to occur in exotropia than in esophoria; suppression does not help to prevent it. Prismatic screens are suitable both for establishing indications as well as for preparation for surgery and postoperative treatment.
