Simple technique for bleeding ferrets (Mustela putorius furo).

3-5 ml of blood can be obtained routinely from the tail of a conscious ferret without affecting the wellbeing of the animal. The development of this technique makes the ferret more readily available as an alternative species for multidose toxicity studies.
