An analysis of questionary data leads to an assessment of the actual role of art as a form of therapy. Art therapy seems mainly to be used as a form of occupational therapy and as a tool for clinical diagnosis. Only in a few cases is art therapy applied in a different way, taking into account the patient as a subject with his own biography and his own existential problems. Animation and other similar methods may represent an alternative approach.
