An automatic infusion system for the measurement and control of uterine activity.

A system for the online quantitation of uterine activity has been used to define the optimum levels and patterns of uterine activity in spontaneous labors and labors induced by oxytocin infusion. Using these parameters, the system automatically adjusts oxytocin infusion to suit the individual requirements of the patient. The infusion rate is subsequently automatically adjusted to take account of any increase or decrease in the uterine activity.
