In an anthropological and genetic paternity report, a total pericentric inversion of chromosome 9 was found in the child and in the putative father. This inherited variant was not found in the mother. In view of the unequivocal detectability and the quite well known frequency of the marker, special attention could be given to the cytogenetic finding in the overall genetic evaluation in the present case.
