One day after a single exposure of rats to cigarette smoke their blood pressure responses to intravenous injections of angiotensin I and II were slightly increased in comparison to sham-exposed animals. When the exposure was repeated daily during ten consecutive days, no changes could be detected. These results suggest, that the total conversion of angiotensin I in vivo was not affected by cigarette smoke but the sensitivity of rats to angiotensin II was slightly increased after a single exposure to cigarette smoke.
