[Changes in vascular permeability and lymph outflow during blood transfusions: experimental study].

Experiments on mongrel dogs showed that after transfusion of citrated blood the lymph flow in the thoracic and right lymphatic ducts increased. Greater vascular permiability and accumulation of fluid in the lungs were also noted. The degree of these phenomena was dependent on the time of storage of the transfused blood and on getting thrombo-leukocytic microaggregates into the vascular bed. The question of possible sequellae of hemotransfusions in patients with the incompetent lymphatic system is discussed.
