[Experience with the surgical treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers].

Under analysis were 1917 resections of the stomach for ulcer with 2,2% of postoperative lethality. Resection of the stomach by Bielroth-II method, with modifications by Hofmeister--Finsterer was used in 1700 patients. Of special significance was the afferent loop length of the jejunum which must not be longer than 4--6 cm and hence the food passage from the stomach to intestine is approximately equal to the physiological one. Good and satisfactory remote results were obtained in 96,2%. The technically correct resection by Billroth-II method modified by Hofmeister--Finsterer minimizes postoperative complications.
