Noninvasive evaluation of the diabetic extremity.

The diagnostic value of Doppler ultrasound evaluation of peripheral vascular disease in diabetic patients is discussed. One hundred patients with documented diabetes mellitus who are presently being followed in Charity Hospital diabetics clinics were evaluated. Only those with ulcers, amputations, or gangrene were eliminated from the study. The value of ultrasound evaluation of the diabetic is discussed.
