Influence of the selective prostaglandin biosynthesis inhibitor, gold, on the arterial pressure of normotensive and spontaneously hypertensive rats.

Gold salt treatment does not influence the blood pressure of normotensive rats but transiently lowers the blood pressure of spontaneously hypertensive rats. The effect is abolished by indomethacin. Prostaglandin (PG) synthesis in the kidney medulla is shifted to E-PG by gold salt. A PG-mediated action of gold salts is supposed.
