Application of prostaglandins in obstetrics and gynecology.

It is reported on the induction of abortion in the second trimenon and the induction of labour at term with the prostaglandins PGF2alpha and PGE2 under consideration of pharmacokinetic problems as well as special indications such as secondary insufficiency of labour and certain fields of applications like softening and priming. The prostaglandin in gelform and the prostaglandin analogue 15(S)-15-methyl-PGF2alpha are discussed as well as the possible advantages and side-effects of these substances.
