The incidence of gonorrhoea in a survey of 100 Black patients attending the gynaecological outpatient department at King Edward VIII Hospital was 11%. The endocervix was the most common site of positive specimens, and it is recommended that swabs for culture of the gonococcus be taken from the endocervix in every patient who has a pelvic examination at the gynaecological clinic.
