It is not infrequent that in the evaluation of the angiograms of patient with aneurysms of the brain vessels the wish for a better discernability of details arises: exact demonstration of the direction and shape of an aneurysm, differenciation between vascular loop and aneurysm, direction of the course of an aneurysm, discernability of small aneurysms, etc. To this end, various radiological methods are being employed such as the substraction technique or the enlargement angiography. The best technical solution existing at present is the tomography of the angiographic examination. This answers all above mentioned questions. However, the method requires the availability of the respective device; it cannot be performed with a conventional tomograph. The great value it has for the surgeon employing microsurgery is demonstrated by some pictures. The question whether the gain which is obtained from this technique for the operation is compatible with the possible hazards for the aneurysm carrier caused by transport and time delay can only be decided in the individual case. The optimum solution is the existence of an angiotomographic unit in all special departments where neuroradiological aneurysms diagnose are established.
