Abstract
A technique of tympanoplasty which combines preservation of the medial part of the osseous canal wall with reconstruction of its lateral aspects is described. The results in terms of functional improvement and complications are discussed. It is concluded that better management of chronic upper respiratory disease may lead to more successful tympanomastoid surgery.
