Swelling of the gums resembling epulis was due to herpetic infection. Virus inclusions were found both in the gum epithelium and in elements of granulation tissue at the base of marginal exulceration. There were variones appearing as spherical corpuscles augmented by encapsulation layers following permeation through the nuclear and cytoplasmatic membranes.
牙龈肿胀类似龈瘤是由疱疹感染引起的。在牙龈上皮以及边缘溃疡底部的肉芽组织成分中均发现了病毒包涵体。有各种形态的包涵体，呈球形小体，在穿透核膜和细胞质膜后有包膜层增大。
