Abstract
Classification in psychiatry serves as a basis for communication within science, as a basis of information retrieval, as a descriptive system, as a source for the construction of theories, and finally as a basis for making predictions. Not only has research diagnostic criteria had significant importance to research, but they can now serve the clinician equally well as exemplified by DSM III.

精神病学中的分类是科学交流的基础、信息检索的基础、描述系统、理论构建的源泉，最后也是进行预测的基础。研究诊断标准不仅对研究具有重要意义，而且如今它们对临床医生同样有用，《精神疾病诊断与统计手册》第三版就是例证。
