In its results the cold urethrotomy under vision after Sachse corresponds to those of the open surgical methods. Main indication are the short strictures and the strictures of the urethra in old men. In 75 urethrotomies of 68 patients our coefficient of success was 89%. Postoperatively the patients received a fenestrated in-dwelling catheter 14-16 Charr. for 3-4 days. The instillation into the urethra was performed twice a day for 4 weeks. The hydraulic bouginage was aspired to for a period of 12 weeks. It was referred to the possibility of an acute urethrotomy.
