Problems of diagnosis of malignant tumors constitute a main topic in cooperation of the socialist countries in the COMECON-complex-program "malignant tumors". On the basis of up-to-date experiences groups of experts have drawn conclusions and recommendations with regard to diagnostic approaches in the most important tumor locations. With the increase of new knowledge these recommendations will be reevaluated. For other locations and diagnostic procedures the establishment of such recommendations is still in progress.
