[Correction of burn scars (author's transl)].

The present procedure for correcting scar contractures in the hand is demonstrated on the basis of experiences gained from 2 500 cases of children with burns of the upper limb. In extensive burns, vascular transplants from the inguinal region are used. The essential condition is the complete removal of all scar tissue. In relevant cases, this procedure must be complemented with extension of the tendons and arthrolysis. After the transplants have taken, functional exercises may be begun. Histological examination of the scars demonstrated malignancy in five cases.
