Digital filtering was compared with conventional analog filtering of brain stem evoked responses. These two types of filtering were compared with regard to efficiency in recovering the signal from the background noise and distortion of the wave morphology. The shift of the peaks in the response by filtering was considered. Digital filtering was found to be superior to analog filtering. A digital filter that has been found efficient in practical use is described.
