It is dealt with the decomposition of aminophenazone in aqueous solutions. The mechanism of decomposition of aminophenazone is discussed in the light of results obtained from model oxidations, and their importance in short-time tests is pointed to. The decomposition products were separated and detected by thin-layer chromatography. The authors succeeded in using a known method for the direct quantitative determination of aminophenazone in stored decomposed solutions.
