The draft of the prevention of the coronary heart disease by control of the factors of risk is critically discussed. On checking the adequate special literature encouraging attempts for the prevention of this disease are to be seen. However, they are not yet a final scientific proof, which may serve as a solid basis for prevention programmes of national importance. The introduction of such programmes would demand comprehensive changes of the nutrition habits of the population and make necessary far-reaching changes in the production and the working up of the food-stuffs, which thus would become a difficult problem for economy. Therefore, further experimental attempts are to be performed. At present only such prophylactic measures are justified which are not followed by essential changes of the production and working up of food-stuffs.
