We report on a 75-year-old woman who presented recurrent bilateral ankle pain and swelling related to insufficiency fractures. The diagnosis of this rare condition is difficult since the initial X-rays are usually normal. We may expect an increased frequency of insufficiency fractures of unusual bones with aging of the population.
